Titicaca

Lake Titicaca is the the highest, navigable lake in the world. Straddling the border with Peru, this is a magical lake of legends, myths and sacred rituals.
The deep waters of Lake Titicaca delve to 283m in places. They are also home to several indigenous communities, including the interesting Amantania and Uros. Most amazingly, very different communities of people live on this same lake with utterly distinctive customs and traditions.

The island of the Sun and Moon are both sacred spots and well worth a visit if you are interested in ancient history and local folklore.

As Lake Titicaca straddles both Peru and Bolivia this is a popular stop on the South American Holiday route.
