Villa Bahia is a boutique hotel located in the colonial quarter of Salvador, Brazil. This former 17th Century house has been converted to create one of the best hotels in a central location.
Villa Bahia - The Details
There are 20 rooms that are all historically named after trade routes which are an important part of the local history (room names include Mozambique, Guinea, Cape Vere etc). The décor is bright throws, bold paintings and lots of varnished woods. The best rooms have a private terrace. All rooms have air conditioning and temperamental WiFi. Due to the p[protected status of the building the windows are original, meaning that it can be a little noisy at night for those facing the square.
This superbly located hotel has a delicious French/Brazilian restaurant, a comfortable sitting area with large sofas and chairs and the smiley staff will ensure that you are fully refreshed, a roof top terrace with good views and a couple of small patio sitting areas.
Villa Bahia- Activities
Salvador has a very interesting history and we suggest a few hours with a top local guide who will bring the city’s history alive as you walk past colourful churches and buildings learning all about the past and present. For something a little more active than a Capoeira class or a visit to a local percussion school is a fun way to get under the skin of the local culture.
