Minimalist décor, large panoramic windows and a huge amount of flora and fauna make this a premier destination for those looking to experience the biodiversity of this unique environment whilst still enjoying very comfortable and modern accommodation.
The lodge also has a 'wellness centre' equipped with a Jacuzzi and small spa, and outside relaxation spaces.
A highlight for most people staying here is a trip along the canopy cables, as this is a great opportunity to see the forest from a different perspective!
The hotel was featured on a BBC Documentary that focused on "Amazing Hotels of the World".
Mashpi Lodge - Our opinion
We really like this lodge, but it is not for everyone. It has been designed to blend in with the local environment and to be sustainable for future years. It is a very interesting and commendable project which does a lot of great work in protecting the habitat. However, it does not blend in and it can feel a little sanitised and some may feel it to be lacking in local charm. For example, you are not woken to the sounds of the forest as you are cocooned in your sound-proofed room. But for those seeking high end luxury and design whilst in the cloud forest, then this is by far the standout and best option.
