Septimo Paraiso is a great little property located in a private reserve around 15 minutes from of the centre of Mindo. The owners have bought a chunk of the land and continue to invest any profit from the hotel into protecting this biodiverse area of South America. For birders, those seeking peace and tranquillity and a host of friendly locals, then this is a good choice.
The rooms are clean and comfortable, yet like most in this area, they are fairly basic. Lots of wood has been used in the construction of the lodge and all rooms have windows that look out into the forest. The rooms are really good, but we have had a few people mention the dampness of them. Unfortunately this is due to the environment that you are in and dampness can never fully be eradicated.
The lodge does have a refreshing, good sized pool and jacuzzi in which to relax and cool down after some trekking along the trails in this humid environment. You can also enjoy a coffee while watching hummingbirds buzzing around in their seemingly never-ending eating frenzy.
