El Mapi is a contemporary and economical hotel located on the main street of Aguas Calientes at the base of Machu Picchu. A good comfortable option for a cocktail, a nice meal and some rest after exploring Machu Picchu.
El Mapi - The Details
El Mapi is run by a company that runs several luxurious hotels in Peru. This hotel targets those not necessarily seeking luxury, but a good quality and friendly hotel in a good location.
The 48 rooms are neutrally designed and come complete with all the mod cons you would expect of a 21st century hotel. Everything is quite minimalist in design, with white walls, modern appliances and large windows. The reception area is located on the main street and is a hub of activity, but the rooms are located at the back of the hotel and they are quieter. The hotel price also includes an evening meal, and they have a bar with a good atmosphere on site, for guests only.
El Mapi - Activities
Aguas Calientes, also referred to as Machu Picchu town, is the base in which to rest before or after exploring the ancient citadel of Machu Picchu. From the town, you take a short 20-minute bus ride up to Machu Picchu site. The town is very touristy, with lots of restaurants, bars, shops and a little market. There are also a couple of decent hot springs that are worth considering if you need some rest and relaxation after trekking. For birders and nature lovers then we can arrange an early morning expedition into the forest, rife with wildlife activity.
