Ortelius is a simple expedition ship that is very competitively priced. For those that will do anything to get to Antarctica then this is a very competitively priced, decent boat worth considering.

This expedition ship that is simple in design and basic in style has 48 outward facing adequate cabins for a maximum of 106 passengers. All of the cabins have their own private bathrooms and come complete with windows or portholes, a little desk and chair and a mirror. The cabins vary in size and the bed configuration as below:

Deluxe:18sqm, two beds and windows
Twin Window: 18sqm, two beds and windows
Twin Porthole: 14sqm, two beds and windows
Triple: 13sqm, bunk beds and porthole
Quadruple: 13sqm, bunkbed and porthole
This ship has the highest ice-class rating (1A)and being wide makes it very stable. The design of the communal rooms is quite simple and minimalistic with limited artwork and design. This ship does still have the feel of a working ship. The ratio of staff to guests is good as this ship sails with 6/7 guides, 20 nautical crew and 19 international crew that support with everything from cleaning to serving food. It is a slick operation with lots of staff with experience, 11 sturdy zodiacs that get you on and off the ship quickly and enable you to explore quickly.
