Fazenda Barranco Alta is a super friendly, authentic and rustic eco lodge located next to the Rio Negro river. This lodge is ideally located to explore The Pantanal.
The basic lodge that is run by a couple of biologists is ideal for those looking for a unique safari and wildlife experience whilst being based on a 11,000 hectare working cattle ranch.
The six suites are clean, comfortable and have air conditioning and come complete with private verandas and hammocks to relax in after exploring the area.
There is a dining area where hearty local meals are served. Also included in the price are excursions, meals and drinks in the evening.
Each day is different in this unique ecosystem and your guides will design bespoke excursions based on the weather and recent wildlife sightings ensuring no day in the Brazilian Pantanal is the same. You trek, take 4 x 4 journeys, horse ride and canoe through the Pantanal as you see giant otters, caiman, capybaras, jaguar and more. For those interested in wildlife then this is one of the most unique and special places in Latin America that we cannot recommend highly enough.
A 50 minute flight from Campo Grande or a very long and bumpy 6 hour ride. Obviously we advice cathing the short flight as it is more comfortable and quicker and for anyone with back issues then we strongly advice agaisnt the road. The journey by car is adventurous, but arduous.
